Children playing on the phone, misdialed numbers or people calling to seek information of a non-urgent matter were all but one of the 911 calls received through the day.

The 911 phone number should not be misused as it ties up this important emergency number compromising Public Safety.

To contact police for non-urgent or non-emergency information or complaints, the public are reminded to use 675-9171. A call taker will refer you to the appropriate department. Emergency calls should still use 911.

Education of children to the importance of not calling 911 inappropriately is important.
